2012 Season - Week 20

BUMSBowl XVII

There will be a new name on the BUMSBowl trophy (if we had one) this season as Andy H (the #8 seed) and Craig (#13) will both play in their first title game, both previously losing their only other Championship appearance. Behind two Frank Gore rushing TDs, Andy H defeated Marcus (#15) 22-13 while Craig upset David Stamp (#11) 34-27 as Matt Ryan outscored Colin Kaepernick 9-3. The best team would have put up 58 points for $7m (Flacco 9pts $1m, Gostkowski 7pts $2m, Gore 12,$1m, Jones 12 $2m, Boldin 12 $.5m and one of James, Gonzalez and Pitta 6pts each , all $0.5m. So it’s The Pirates versus The Spartans for BUMSBowl XVII. Prices will be out in next weeks newsletter and you’ll need to get your teams in by noon Saturday February 2nd. First come first served but wait for the prices fellas. BUMS on ProBowl and Superbowl Seats The ProBowl is played this Sunday (a week before the Superbowl) and we will be meeting at Johnnies on Monday from 6:30pm to see it. Let him know if you are going, he’ll be running his ProBowl silliness game. The two favourites and number one seeds faded and died. Having been an incredible 67-0 at home when leading at half-time, Brady’s amazing undefeated streak is over. With New England leading 13-7 at half-time Joe Flacco (now eight TDs & zero interceptions this postseason) lead Baltimore on three TD drives as the Baltimore D shut-out New England. Meantime the Falcons jumped to a quick 17-0 lead over San Francisco but were also shut-out throughout the second half. The 49ers took a 28-24 lead with 8 minutes left and after Atlanta drove to the SF 10 yard line a no call on a possible pass interference on Roddy White saw the ball turned over on downs. So it’s HarbaughBowl I (© The BUMS – as legal advisor Aaron will sue anyone who uses that phrase). The only time they faced each other was in week 12 of 2011 when Baltimore won 16-6. Superbowl XLVII is on Sunday February 3rd on the BBC with kick-off at 11.30pm & Cheryl will be cooking a USA feast, for 10:30pm so let us know if you can make it. It will be an unbiased meal of Crab Cakes (Baltimore) washed down with wine from Napa Valley (San Fran) – or maybe not. So John or Jim, who ya got? We’ll be playing all the usual games, more information on them next week. All-BUMS Voting Don’t forget to vote for your favourite players of 2012.
